Jones has been the coach at SMU
for the last four years and has compiled a 23-28 record during his tenure, but has done an admirable job rebuilding the program. The Mustangs are currently 7-5 and should learn their bowl game fate tomorrow and have been to bowl games in the last two seasons as well after going 1-11 in Jones' first year.
Jones, 58, had a very successful nine-year run at Hawaii where he was 76-41 highlighted by a 2007 mark of 12-1 and a Sugar Bowl appearance. Jones was also a head coach in the NFL four years with the Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers and posted a 22-36 record.
It is unclear if Jones is the front runner for ASU's vacant head coaching job, but at the very least he is receiving serious consideration as we speak from the Sun Devils.
Devils Digest has confirmed KTAR 620's Paul Calvisi's report that ASU has met with June Jones on Saturday and learned that there is a great level of mutual interest between both parties.
