Could some Bear & Buff commits end up at WSU?
But whether commits from those schools will be much of a factor for the Cougs when it comes to Signing Day remains to be seen. At Cal, where Jeff Tedford was let go, cornerback and Cal commit Darius Allensworth (5-11, 180) out of Heritage High in Menifee, Calif. has scheduled an official visit to Washington State for Jan. 18. WSU verbal commit Jamal Morrow is his teammate. At Colorado, offensive lineman Jonathan Huckins out of the Woodlands, Texas is rethinking his pledge to the Buffs in the wake of Jon Embree's dismissal. He said he plans to call the WSU coaches and see if they had any interest. Huckins had not been offered by WSU at the time he committed to Colorado. A couple of other Colorado's commits, LB George Frazier and WR Devin Ross, at one time earlier in the year had a WSU offer but they might not any longer. Over at Cal, commits who had at one time a WSU offer include OG Cameron Hunt and LB Victor Egu. AS WAS NOTED in an earlier CF.C article, the Cougs are as expected concentrating their early in-home visits (the contact period just began on Sunday) on the mid-year junior college transfer prospects -- Dec. 19 is the first day they can sign, less than three weeks away. And for the Cougs in the 2013 class, that means linemen. Leach has said the Cougars are likely to take two junior college offensive linemen, which would give them a total of seven o-linemen in the class. Silvano Altamirano, Mitchell Bell and Jacob Seydel are among those in play. On the d-line, where CF.C is projecting the Cougs could take three more d-linemen for a total of five in the recruiting class, Marquel Combs, Sam Wren, Rod Crayton and Lyman Faoliu are among the crimson targets.
