Daimler Couldn't Pass on OU

Houston Stratford OTChristian Daimler to OU

FOX Sports NEXT is in the streets this fall to bring you all the coverage from across the Midlands region. Recently, we got word that Houston Stratford offensive tackle Christian Daimler has switched his commitment from the Pac-12 to the Big 12…

"I just couldn't turn it down."

Those were the words of Houston (TX) Stratford offensive tackle Christian Daimler, who made the call to the Oklahoma coaches saying he was in as a 2013 commitment. Daimler was offered Tuesday night by offensive line coach James Patton.

It seems like that was all Daimler needed to hear.

"I had been talking with coach Patton for a while and last night before we got off the phone, he offered me," Daimler said. "When I got off the phone, I thought about it and wanted to commit. I'm pretty excited right now and I couldn't be happier."

Of course, another call that the 6-foot-7, 275-pound Daimler had to make was to the Arizona State coaches, as he was committed to the coaching staff just a couple of months ago. Though Daimler said it was a call "that he was not looking forward to," he said that he knew that the call needed to be made.

Daimler said he has built up quite a relationship with the Sooner coaching staff. Once on campus, Daimler will play the tackle position.

"It was the relationship and the fact that Oklahoma plays for championships year in and year out," Daimler said.

He has an official visit set for January 11.
