Adeosun mulling his options

Adeosun mulling his options

Not many 2013 prospects have seen their stock soar in the month of January as George Adeosun's did. The Alpharetta (Ga.) offensive lineman certainly has some quality suitors to chose from when he inks his name to his Letter of Intent, including Arizona State whom he visited last weekend. Adeosun talked to Devils Digest about his recruitment and what effect his teammate Josh Dobbs will have on it.

"I got a good feel for the school and the coaching staff," Adeosun said of his Tempe trip. "The weather was very nice. I really like the Barrett Honors College and got to talk to a few student- athletes that attend that college. I also met the President of the University and the Dean of the Barrett Honors College.

"The Barrett Honors College was definitely a very pleasant sight to see."

The 6-6 309-pound George Adeosun is being recruited as an offensive tackle, and according to his Head Coach, Jason Dukes, very limited playing time as junior allowed the lineman to go unnoticed recruiting wise until his senior year where he has attracted offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma (his only other official visit), Georgia Tech and Purdue among others.

When viewing game film of the Arizona State offense, Adeosun admitted that he did find a measure of familiarity with that system.

"The scheme is very similar to what we are running now (in high school)," Adeosun remarked. "Potentially this could be an easy transition for me. The Arizona State coaches like my footwork and my technique, also my intellect because I look at things on the grand scale of the offense and not just from an offensive lineman perspective.

"I was hosted by Kody Kobensky who told me how hard the coaches work to always make you better."

Needless to say that what makes the lineman's recruitment with the Sun Devils that much more intriguing is the fact that he's the teammate and also good friend of Josh Dobbs, a 2013 signal caller who currently listed as a soft verbal commit to ASU.

Adeosun said that he talked to his quarterback at length before and after last weekend's visit.

"Josh told me to pack nothing but shorts," Adeosun recalled, "but I came out to the airport with a sweatshirt and sweatpants which turned out to be a bad idea. He told me about the coaching staff being very family oriented and I found that to be true on my trip.

"Josh and I aren't a package deal. No one should be surprised if each of us went to a different school. We are two independent minded individuals. Even though we are great friends we know in our hearts that to succeeded as football players and students we each have to do what is best for us. If it happens to be the same school for both of us, so be it. If not, then not."

With signing day looming large, Adeosun said that he has narrowed down his list of schools but declined to reveal which suitors have made the final cut.

"I'm not at liberty to say at this point," Adeosun stated. "I'm looking at everything from a completely objective angle. It doesn't matter if I took an official visit there or not. I'm just looking at the place which offers me the best opportunity."

When asked if he knew which school Dobbs was leaning towards, Adeosun replied: "I have a pretty good idea as far what he's thinking," he said, "but I'm not at liberty to say which school. He knows what's best for him and he'll make the right decision. I don't know if his decision will ultimately affect mine."

Adeosun, while not revealing the schools that made his final cut, said that he is "very sure" that he will sign with the program of his choice come Wednesday.

"I'm going to a school that I know will fit me the best not only five months from now but five years from now," Adeosun explained. "Looking at my development as a player, getting the best alumni connection, getting the best coaching staff and the best academics."

The lineman added that his school will have a signing day ceremony at approximately 3:45 PM ET on Wednesday, and that he didn't know whether he was going to fax in his Letter of Intent prior to that event or following it.
