All-Time Defense
| Michael Clay |
Linebacker,
San Jose (Calif.) Bellarmine Prep/Oregon (2008) The Defensive
MVP of the 2013 Fiesta Bowl anchored his squad's defense in an unbeaten
weekend and the tournament title in the first year. |
| Vontaze Burfict |
Linebacker,
Corona (Calif.) Centennial/Arizona State (2008) The Cincinnati
Bengal linebacker was the most physically imposing player in the tournament,
maybe ever, Burfict was a sight to see during the first tournament. |
|
| Chris Martin |
Linebacker,
Aurora (Colo.) Grandview/Kansas (2009) Whether it was lining up
at linebacker or tight end, Martin was uncoverable and made plays on both
sides of the ball. Now at Kansas after a circuitous route to get
there. |
|
| Dion Bailey |
Safety,
Lakewood (Calif.)/USC (2009) Part of a strong defense in the
second year of the tournament, and helped his team win the title. Now
starting at USC. |
| George Atkinson |
Safety,
Livermore (Calif.) Granada/Notre Dame (2010) One of the better
two-way players in the tournament's run, he was great on both sides of the
ball, especially in the secondary. Now playing at Notre Dame. |
| Ishmael Adams |
Cornerback,
Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian/UCLA (2010-11) Another
terrific two-way player, he was a bigtime contributor to two 1925 teams,
especially his second run, after moving from Georgia.
|
| Tahaan Goodman |
Safety,
Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.)/UCLA (2012) Another of the more
physically impressive players, especially in the secondary, at the
tournament, was excellent in coverage and had a handful of picks, as part of
a loaded secondary. |
| Ahmad Dixon |
Safety,
Waco (Texas) Midway/Baylor (2009) One of the few non-West Coast
participants to come to Vegas, the Baylor Bear and all-Big 12 selection was
the lone bright spot on a talented but underachieving outfit in year two. |
| Terrance Mitchell |
Cornerback,
Sacramento (Calif.) Burbank/Oregon (2009) One of the star's of
Oregon's defense now, Mitchell was a relative unknown when he earned
all-tournament honors in 2009. |
| Sean Martin |
Cornerback,
Corona (Calif.) Santiago/Oregon State (2008) Along with Clay,
the future Oregon State corner helped his team stay unbeaten and win the
first tournament. |
| Cliff Harris |
Cornerback,
Fresno (Calif.) Edison/Oregon (2008) The original two-way star
in the 7on7, the polarizing Oregon cornerback was his teams best receiver
and the best pure defensive back in year one. |
|
| Su'a Cravens |
Athlete,
Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta/USC (2012) Could have been all
tournament for either side of the ball in 2012, the West's top prospect in
the 2013 class, shined at both receiver and safety in the first run for the
Frat Boyz, to the semifinals.
