Decision Nearing for Tukuafu
Arizona State has been one of the strongest suitors in his recruitment. ASU defensive coordinator Bill Miller and defensive line coach Grady Stretz have been recruiting Tukuafu in earnest, and the defensive lineman mentioned that Miller's track record in coaching collegiate defensive players who went on to have pro-bowl seasons in the NFL, such as Ray Lewis, is something he's taking note of.
One aspect of his recruitment, that may work in the maroon and gold's favor, is the fact that Tukuafu is scheduled to get married next year and his fiancé's family is from nearby Gilbert. "It's a factor," he remarked. "But it isn't to a point to where that's what I'm gonna based my decision on. I talked to my family and they say I need to do what's best for me. That's only fair."
Tukuafu doesn't claim to have a favorite school, but rather names four programs who he says are "in the same boat" in terms of schools he's heavily considering. "Arizona State, Arizona, Cal and Oregon," he said. "I know I'm definitely planning to play in the Pac-10. I visited all those schools. I'm not taking anymore visits before my decision…I'm trying to narrow down things for myself. I'm gonna talk to my family and make a decision in the next couple of weeks."
The defensive end collected 10.5 sacks for the Artichokes last season. Tukuafu is scheduled to graduate in December and because he's currently redshirting he‘s a three for three player in terms of eligibility.
