Two Trips in One Week for JC Defensive End

Defensive End Alex Cook

Blinn (Bernham, Tex.) College standout Alex Cook is still on schedule to visit the Sun Devils this weekend. However prior to his arrival in Tempe, he will make a stop at another Pac-10 school. Devils Digest talked to the defensive end about his recruiting with ASU and his other suitors.

"I'm gonna visit Cal on Wednesday," said the 6-4 215 Alex Cook. "After that visit I'm gonna head out to Arizona State. Cal has been recruiting me for just a couple of weeks and I want to check them out."

Cook visited Arkansas last weekend and came away very impressed. His visit to Tempe is one that he's looking forward to, especially because of the relationship he has developed with the ASU coaches. "I really like Coach Erickson and Coach Stretz," explained Cook. "They are really recruiting me hard. You can look into their eyes and see how sincere they are and how much they want you to play for them. Everything is going good right now with ASU."

Things weren't too shabby for Cook on the gridiron either. The Buccaneers of Blinn College finished with 12-0 record and finished in the top spot of the final NJCAA Football Poll of the 2006 season. Going into the championship game, Cook tallied 52 tackles and nine sacks. He was second team NJCAA All-American and was selected first team All-Conference. "My strength is my speed," he said of his skills, "and I've been told that I have the type of speed at defensive end that a lot of players don't have. But I need to get stronger." Cook hails from Osceola High School in Seminole, FL. He was named All-Pinellas County by the St. Petersburg Times, and was also an All-State selection as a senior.

Cook claimed that he will not make a decision until after his ASU visit. He does however know what factors will help him make up his mind. "I want to go a school where I'll be comfortable with my surroundings," he commented. "I want to go to a place where I have good chemistry with the coaches, players and teachers. I want to go to a place where I know it's a good place to live." Recommended Stories
