ASU Cornerback in Critical Condition

Cornerback Chad Green

Senior cornerback Chad Green was injured early Saturday morning in a traffic accident in Tempe. Green is in "critical but guarded condition" according to a statement released by an Arizona State University spokesman Monday morning.

Green was traveling at 3:30 am on Saturday April 15th to or from a fast food eatery at the intersection of University and McClintock, when his car, while making a left turn, was T-Boned by an alleged drunk driver. The cornerback is hospitalized at Scottsdale Memorial hospital and published reports indicate that he has suffered swelling to the brain and is in a coma.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Green family," Head Coach Dennis Erickson said in a statement released today. "I visited with Mrs. Green and told her we are here for her. I will see her again today."

Green tallied four total tackles in 2006, but during this year's spring practice was mostly running on the first team at his position. The cornerback is a 2003 graduate of Birmingham HS in Van Nuys, Calif. He played in the prestigious CaliFlorida bowl All-Star game following his senior year. will provide further details of Green's condition as they become available. Recommended Stories
