‘Family Atmosphere' Makes Impact on Stevens

Cohesiveness is a football cliché that is often thrown around, and maybe at times it's done so without much substance. Four-Star offensive lineman Hamani Stevens genuinely felt the chemistry between him and the Sun Devil players during his Tempe visit and shared his impressions with Devils Digest following his official trip.

"It was great, I loved everything about it," said the 6-2 290 Hamani Stevens of his Arizona State visit. "It was a fun trip and it made a big impact on me. The whole team was great, we bonded real well. Coach Erickson is really an impressive coach. I felt a family atmosphere over there. "

More than a dozen players on the maroon and gold squad are from a Polynesian descent, and teh four-star prospect admitted that it's an aspect that could ultimately affect his decision. "It's definitely factored in there," he remarked. "It's always good to be around players from the same ethnicity. I can relate to them (the Polynesian ASU players) and it's fun hanging out with them."

The impressive 44-20 win was witnessed by the lineman, who called the Sun Devils 31-3 second half performance "dominating" and added that he could see ASU winning more games this season with that type of performance. In regards to the offensive line play, Stevens was impressed with the versatility of the Hell Hogs. "I love how they have their guards and center pulling," he noted. "You don't see that a lot in college teams. I really like Coach Smith and I know he can make me a better player and a better offensive lineman."

Stevens visited Colorado on Sep. 28th, and has visits planned to Michigan State on November 3rd, Oregon December 1st, and BYU on January 9th. "Both the Arizona State and Colorado trips were good," he commented. "I can't say one thing I didn't like about them. If I find a place that I know is for me then I'll make my decision then. But I'm still keeping all my options open and looking at all opportunities."
