Elway Pledges to Sun Devils

DevilsDigest.com has been able to confirm a report from the Rocky Mountain News that Arizona State has received a verbal commitment from Cherry Creek (Col.) signal caller Jack Elway.

Jack Elway, son of NFL Hall of famer John Elway, visited the Arizona State campus last weekend. He chose the Sun Devils over Oregon, LSU, and Cal. ASU coaches were in attendance last night as Elway threw for four touchdown passes in Cherry Creek's 37-14 win over Eaglecrest. According to the Rocky Mountain News, thus far in his senior year, Elway has thrown for 1,677 yards (112 of 197 passes), 21 touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Elway family is quite familiar with ASU Head Coach Dennis Erickson and his staff. Erickson was an offensive coordinator under Elway's grandfather, Jack Sr., at San Jose State. From 1979-81. Sun Devil Safeties Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Matt Lubick, is son of family friend and Colorado State Head Coach Sonny Lubick.

Elway is the ninth known commitment of ASU's 2008 recruiting class.
