Compton Dominguez's Aaron Hester, the #12-ranked cornerback in the nation who is verbally committed…
Everything is Wide Open for Hester
ASU has been recruiting Hester, listed by Scout.com as the nation's 12th best cornerback, since the spring. The Sun Devils are recruiting him as a defensive back rather than exclusively at corner.
Scouting reports state that Hester is strong in run support and plays the pass very well. He shows good hips and can turn with the receiver. Hester anticipates well, shows a good burst and plays the ball well in the air. Overall, Hester is a physical corner that supports the run and shows excellent cover skills.
"I'm physical, fast, just a play maker," said Hester of his skills. "My football IQ is off the charts. But there's always room for improvement and I need to improve on everything." The corner will participate in the Army All-American Bowl in January
Hester and the Dons are currently 6-2 in the 2007 season. As a junior, Hester tallied 45 tackles and three interceptions helping them to the CIF-SS title. He played his sophomore year at Long Beach (Calif.) Poly.
In terms of his recruitment, Hester was non-committal as to say if he will remain a Bruin pledge or switch his commitment. "I'm still evaluating, trying to figure out my plans," he commented. "I can't even say who's my top three - it's wide open."
Arizona State marked his first official visit and he has no others scheduled. He listed the whole Pac-10, as well as Purdue, Boise State, and Michigan as the schools recruiting him the hardest, but claimed that "most likely I'm staying in the Pac-10."
