Arizona State University wrapped up the home portion of their non-conference slate with a 38-14 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. Here are the contributions of ASU’s first-year players from Saturday night.

An unexpected newcomer who saw action was walk-on placekicker Bobby Wenzig, and the San Diego Westview did very well in his debut. The true freshman, who performed in lieu of the injured Thomas Weber, had a 24-yard field goal to cap the scoring in the first half, and was good on all of his five PAT attempts. He also averaged 58.7 yards on his seven kickoffs.

True freshman quarterback Brock Osweiler had limited opportunities to throw the ball and didn’t complete any of his two attempts. He did rush for a net 9 yards on two attempts.

True freshman running back Cameron Marshall had six carries for 18 yards. Other newcomers who saw action on offense were starting right guard Matt Hustad, offensive lineman Andrew Sampson, tailback James Morrison, wide receiver A.J. Pickens and tight end Steven Figueroa.

On defense, true freshman linebacker Vontaze Burfict had five tackles and two pass breakups. Redshirt freshman defensive end Toa Tuitea had two tackles, one of them for a loss. Redshirt freshman safety Keelan Johnson had two tackles, as well as a kickoff return for 44 yards. Defensive linemen Dean DeLeone and Corey Adams each had a stop.

Other newcomers that participated in Saturday's action on defense included cornerback Deveron Carr, safety Jonathan Clark, defensive end Gregory Smith, and defensive tackle Will Sutton.
