ASU pulls out from Bejarano’s recruitment

Posted Oct 5, 2009

Sources close to the recruitment of Phoenix North High School guard Daniel Bejarano have informed Devils Digest that the ASU has decided today to rescind its offer from the 2010 prospect.

Yesterday Arizona State Head Coach Herb Sendek and his assistants Dedrique Taylor and Lamont Smith spent nearly four hours visiting Bejarano, his mother, step father, and his North High School assistant coaches Ray Arvizu Jr. and Joseph Broderick. Last Thursday the North guard hosted Arizona Head Coach Sean Miller and tonight Miller's assistants are scheduled to have an in-home visit with Bejarano.

The 6-4 195 guard chose Texas over Arizona State last year, but de-commited from the Longhorns last week. This is when both ASU and Arizona starting recruiting him.

The #43 prospect in the 2010 class put together a very impressive season in leading North to a 25-5 record. The first team all-state selection averaged 23.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocked shots per game, and had 16 double doubles. He scored 22 points as he led North to a 42-39 win over top ranked Tucson Ironwood Ridge in the 5A-II championship game last year. Bejarano, averaged 23.8 points, nine rebounds and three assists during the playoff run.
