ASU Football Ticket Prices Slashed

Sports fans all around the nation usually feel that their gripes over their beloved teams usually fall on deaf ears. In some rare occasions professional and college teams do what they can to accommodate their supporters. Today, the Arizona State Sun Devils joined this rare fraternity of sports teams that actually walk the walk when it comes to listening to its fans.
Today, Sun Devils Director of Athletics Gene Smith announced an all inclusive ticket price reduction for ASU’s Football games. 51 percent of the total seats in Sun Devil Stadium have been reduced between 16 and 38 percent. As a result, ASU is likely to rank as the lowest in ticket prices in the Pac-10.
Smith said that he tried to listen to the fans and pay attention to the valley demographics and the rough economic times. “We’re attempting to diversify our pricing structure,” said Smith “to make tickets affordable to many people…This year we have six home games so there was a natural reduction right there. This is a very exciting opportunity to reach out to the community. To have the season we had and to lower ticket prices can create an exciting atmosphere.”
The ASU Athletic director singled out two new ticket packages. The first one is “Koetter’s Korner” which will be located in section 1 of the stadium. Each game this season this section will have 434 tickets that will sell for $5 each. The tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis, and will go on sale the Monday before each home game. Another program will be the “Pac-10 Pack.” This game package includes the USC, Oregon, California, and Arizona games, and sells for $120. All 2,700 seats in this package are the lower level of Sun Devil Stadium.
Smith mentioned that last year the Sun Devils had approximately 29,000 Football season ticket holders. Due to this price reduction, the ASU Athletics department is budgeting for 34,000 season tickets. “I would like to see us get back to the glory days where we had 48,000 season tickets.” Smith said. “The goal is to bring people in who weren’t season ticket holders. They can take advantage of the lower prices and even the higher ones.” The ASU Athletic director was confident that the new tickets prices along with an exciting product on the field is bound to fill up Sun Devil Stadium in the future.
ASU Football season ticket renewal forms will be mailed on February 4th. New season tickets will go on sale on February 11th at the Sun Devil Ticket office at the Stadium or by phone at 480-727-0000. The renewal deadline is March 7th, and single game tickets go on sale on August 1st.
