Hoping to atone for last week's loss at the hands of UNLV, Arizona
State fell short to the third-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Following the game, head coach Dennis Erickson noted that he plans on opening up the competition at several positions, which could mean more playing time for some newcomers. Here’s how some of the first-year Sun Devils faired on Saturday.
Two newcomers stood out for the defense against Georgia. Freshman defensive
tackle Lawrence Guy had his best game yet, notching four tackles,
including one for a 4-yard loss. Linebacker Shelly Lyons added four
tackles as well. Defensive end Jamaar Jarrett collected an assisted
stop after making his collegiate debut last week against UNLV.
Pierre Singfield had one of the defense's two pass break-ups of the
evening as well as three solo stops. Max Tabach and Terrell Carr
chipped in three tackles each for the secondary. Safety Clint Floyd
finished with one tackle on defense and a 9-yard kickoff return.
Other game participants included Gerrell Robinson, Colin Parker,
Jarrell Holman, Oliver Aaron, James Brooks, Brent Good, Stanley Malamala, T.J. Simpson, Dan Knapp, and Thomas Ohmart.
