Pfeifer: Vandy is the place for me

Ean Pfeifer, who was an integral part of Bentonville (Ark.) High School's 2013 state championship run, gave his verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University over the weekend. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman was a stand-out at Vanderbilt camp and was rewarded later in the day with his first SEC offer.

"After taking the visit and having the full campus tour, I knew [Vanderbilt] was where I needed to be," Pfeifer told VandyMania.com. "The chance at a top-notch education and to play in the best football conference in the nation was absolutely all I wanted in a college.

"The recruiting process just began a couple of weeks ago after the staff watched my film. I was invited to camp and was offered on Saturday. The staff told me they were most impressed with my versatility and mobility. They said they definitely think that I can play tackle in the SEC, that's a given, but I also have the ability to play inside at guard or center. I spent a lot of time at the cookout with the offensive line coach, the offensive coordinator, the head coach, and many of the players and loved it speaking to those guys. We're from Arkansas, about 20 minutes from the University of Arkansas, but my mother and I both agreed Vandy was the place for me.

"Having made my commitment [to Vanderbilt] is a definitely a stress reliever. I can relax now and focus on my senior season."

Pfeifer was an first team All-Conference (Arkansas Class 7A- West) at offensive tackle for Bentonville. Arkansas State, Georgia State, Memphis, MTSU, Nevada, SDSU, Southern Miss, and Utah State were among the 13 offers Pfeifer had received prior to his commitment.
